Of the weekends and bla bla bla...

Switchfoot was a blast! Woohoo!

Well, not that I went for the concert last Saturday but yeah, they are Switchfoot, what do you expect from their concert if not anything more than great? Heh... Hope they come back next year, this time will keep an eye out for their concert date. Not really a big fan of concerts or any particular bands but once in awhile joining the lively young crowd in a "Rah rah rah rah-jumping crazed" atmosphere will probably make me feel lil bit younger.

Sister is back though for the CNY holiday. Much awaited break for her since the past months have been hectic for her. So many lab sessions and exams, I think she will be happily finishing all the canto series I downloaded for her. I think I'll be a little bit extra nice to her since she's been hardworking.

As usual nothing much have happened for the weekends but last Thursday was memorable. Had dinner with Paul, Sarah and Kristy. After like what felt centuries, finally get to meet up with them. Plus, Kristy is going off this coming Saturday. Definitely going to miss her. There's no other Kristy in this world so... yeah...

Today is the day where I will splurge on 3 boxes of Gundam models. Not sure if I'm going to live to regret today's splurging. I'm going for it. Below are some of the pictures of how it is going to look like when it is completed.

Of Cataract Operation and Hong Leong Bank

As I'm typing this, dad is in the operation room doing his cataract operation.

Well, nothing interesting about that, just pray that he will recover fully from the operation in no time.

The funny thing we encounter earlier before his operation was this:

Dad's Hong Leong Bank (HLB) visa card was blocked and when he called up the bank, he was told that there's a 90 ringgit fees that he did not clear hence he is not allowed to use the card.

After explaining to them that he is in the midst of getting an operation within 10 mins time and that he will pay the fees alongside with the operation fees, they still insist that he pay his 90 ringgit!

Bloody HLB fools. Process is a process that I can agree with, but if I'm a bank and my client with a stable income and financial status wants to spend another few k before he pays up the petty little 90 ringgit of stupid fees that appears from no where (mind you the card's annual fees are waved) I would with the least of worries allow him to use the card again!

Well the next time I see any person trying to sell me their HLB credit card, I will just ask them to shove their cards up their management ass. Basically they don't know how to hire capable people to make on the spot decision that would involve a little risk but in turn gain certain amount of revenue for the company.

This is really pissing me off. Well, will just have to wait for my aunt to come and see how to settle the bills. And my pay is not even transferred to my account yet. I think its time for me to op for a credit card for emergencies like this.

Currently...

1)Thanking God

Thanking God because there's nothing wrong with mom after her slipped and fell yesterday. Well, There's no way to be sure since she refuses to go for a MRI and X-Ray scan. pffft... now I know where I get my stubbornness from. It's genetic I tell you.

2)Cleaning up my room

Room is in such a mess that I probably need 10 years to clear up those junks! Don't even remember having those documents, clothes...etc in the first place.

Pffft... organizing is such a chore when you are not prepared with proper organizing tools such as files or boxes. Deciding what documents to keep, what magazines to throw, do I still need my old jeans, who do I give all these unwanted clothes to...yadee yada yada... you get the picture. I'm totally boggled at the moment. Though I sound like a woman here but if you clean your room once in every 10 years then you will understand why... x_O

3) Listening and Loving Laura Fygi + Stacey Kent

Nice soothing songs they sing. Me likey... thanks to Elaine for her contribution to my mp3 song collectoins. :P

Well time to go back to my spring cleaning session. Ciaoz.

The unexpected...

So far 2008 have been good for me. Normal year with stable income.

However, recently a series of events occurs that made this stable and steady progressing 2008 to divert its course, and head towards a worrisome and stressful path.

First, my dad will be expecting a minor cataract operation which after reading the recovery handbook for cataract patients made me realized that the entire process is not so minor after all.

Just as I'm preparing myself for dad's operation on the 22nd this month, mom slipped and knock her head on the curb thingy in front of my house this morning. How did she fell? Well, thanks to the darn dog that pooped right in front of the main door. Mom was washing it and stupid el cheapo tiles became slippery.

I'm praying that mom will not suffer from any side effects or serious injuries from this fall. She'll be going to the hospital for an X-Ray scan tomorrow.

Right now, other than feeling helpless, I'm a little angry at my incompetency. If I would be more capable, by now I would have owned a mansion and few maids to take care of stuff. Mom and Dad would not have to worried about making money. All they need to think about is how to stay healthy and live an interesting life.

I'm getting impatient at the moment. With the rate I'm going with the normal tempo of earning and saving, it will take forever to achieve my target. This is frustrating. Yet, I know somethings are not meant to be rushed.

Full on dilemma that I cannot do anything about.

For Laughs

From a colleague:

I took my dad to the mall the other day to buy some new shoes. We decided to grab a bite at the food court.

I noticed he was watching a teenager sitting next to him. The teenager had spiked hair in all different colors: green, red, orange, and blue. My dad kept staring at him.

The teenager would look and find him staring every time. When the teenager had enough, he sarcastically asked, 'What's the matter old man, never done anything wild in your life?'

Knowing my Dad, I quickly swallowed my food so that I would not choke on his response; knowing he would have a good one.

And in classic style he did not bat an eye in his response. 'Got drunk once and had sex with a peacock. I was just wondering if you were my son'.

Adopt a Christmas tree!

From day 1 when my social circle start expanding, most of the time I would be known or labeled as a "kind or good person". Sometimes I even get as far as a "gentlemen".

After many years of making friends and in the same time turning some into enemies, I start to wonder if coming of age does something horrible to this "kindness, goodness or even gentleness" of mine. Slowly, I discover there's something else within me that makes me wonder are those titles mine to carry in the first place.

Mystery of the universe huh? Not really, just a thought that occasionally hit me when I'm extremely moody. Either that or because the festive season is arriving. Some how big celebrations brings the worst out of me. I hate holidays and I hate festivals... times like these makes me awkward and out of place. Heck...

Any huuu, on a totally off note, if you want to get a Christmas present and you don't have any idea what to get and in the same time its been ages since you last donated for a cause... you can actually get one of these items below :
Wah so gold ar...

Wah red red like chinese new year ar...

They are Christmas trees decorated by One Academy student to raise funds for their graduation. Do support these bunch of talented and hardworking future designers, animators and even directors and give them a graduation that they won't forget.

Do let me know if you want to purchase one of those wonderfully decorated Christmas-sy tree.

Blonde and Cars...

A few days ago I was having some work done at my local garage. A blonde came in and asked for a seven-hundred-ten.

We all looked at each other and another customer asked, 'What is a seven-hundred-ten?'

She replied, 'You know, the little piece in the middle of the engine, I have lost it and need a new one..'

She replied that she did not know exactly what it was, but this piece had always been there.

The mechanic gave her a piece of paper and a pen and asked her to draw what the piece looked like.

She drew a circle and in the middle of it wrote 710. He then took her over to another car which had its hood up and asked 'is there a 710 on this car?'

She pointed and said, 'Of course, its right there.'

Standby Mode...

Well, have been offered to be on standby technical support for the finance team last week.

Boss confirmed the deal and slight increase in my income. Wonderful eh?

Some how I am not as excited as I thought I would. Grateful to God for the offer, definitely. The allowance that I get from the deal is more than enough to keep me stay on working for the company for another year. But...

Anyhow, yesterday had another chilling session with some of my old mates. It's been awhile. Like Metal says, everybody is growing up, no time for gatherings, what more girlfriends? Can't say I totally agree to that but, maybe because I'm not as grown up as I'm suppose to be?

Need to start doing something purposeful and fruitful during Sats and Suns... weekends are getting way boring nowadays. Need to get some classes or exercises going on, feeling like a bum every weekend isn't really what I call boosting the ego.

On a lighter note, I'm getting a new phone and a new postpaid line soon! Thanks to my allowance.

Age of 23

Age of 23 is such an awkward age. We are neither fully a grown up nor are we still the young punks that we us to be when we were 18.

Experiences or even lessons that we have gone through thus far, whether rough or smooth, does not grant us the authority or even credentials to proudly declare that we've been through life and I don't really think that the younger ones should heed our sayings. At least not just yet.

As much as we can be talented and be excellent in our studies, work and so forth, I still don't think we have gone through enough to be giving life lessons to others. In fact, I would believe that many of us at this age are still growing. Some of us have purpose, some of us don't, but which ever category we falls into, we are still learning how to be a grown up.

But having all that said, I'm enjoying my age of 23 and am thankful that I can take things slowly work wise. It is pure blessings for me to be able to reach this stage of life. And I do pray that such blessings will extend for many many more years to come. And that my family will be blessed as well.

Just thought of putting this down. Nothing much, just a random post.

Updates...

Woah... it's been awhile since I updated this place. Anyhow, lets recap on what I have done during my absence.

Penang trip was a blast, definitely fun just eating, chilling and watching dvd. But sleeping on the sofa isn't a good way to rest... back ache...

Quest to buy a handphone for myself have not come to an end yet because the phones that I wanted to get turn out to be nothing great after all. But I am fixing my eyes on Samsung U700. Cool phone. Only cons - Priceh... whooping RM 15++.00

I want a new comp and a 22 inch LCD monitor as well! Either LG or Sony. But Asus looks promising as well though.

Been spending alot of time with my colleagues. What to do, its convenient since everybody stay so near. Besides, they are fun to hang out with.

I need to put my tithes into the offering bag!! It's been accumulating since few months ago! Argh...

Anyhow, have never felt so aimless before in my life up till now. Plans to work my way up from bottom crushed when the new jackass manager and his trustee idiotic sidekick took over the department.

Like Metal says, don't bite the hands that might control your future. I agree... but in addition to that statement, I would like to add "bite it after you got your future and surpasses them". ;)

Siah logging off...

Funny!

One fine day I would wish to be able to pull this off towards some clients of mine.

Heh...sooo funny!
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
This is a true story from the WordPerfect helpline. Needless to say, the help desk employee was fired; however, he/she is currently suing the Word Perfect organization for "Termination without Cause."

Actual dialogue of a former WordPerfect Customer Support employee with a caller:

Customer Support: "Ridge Hall computer assistant; may I help you?"

Caller: "Yes, well, I'm having trouble with WordPerfect."

CS: "What sort of trouble?"

C: "Well, I was just typing along, and all of a sudden the words went away."

CS: "Went away?"

C: "They disappeared."

CS: "Hmm. So what does your screen look like now?"

C: "Nothing."

CS: "Nothing?"

C: "It's blank; it won't accept anything when I type."

CS: "Are you still in WordPerfect, or did you get out?"

C: "How do I tell?"

CS: "Can you see the C: prompt on the screen?"

C: "What's a sea-prompt?"

CS: "Never mind. Can you move the cursor around on the screen?"

C: "There isn't any cursor, I told you, it won't accept anything I type."

CS: "Does your monitor have a power indicator?"

C: "What's a monitor?"

CS: "It's the thing with the screen on it that looks like a TV. Does it have a little light that tells you when it's on?"

C: "I don't know."

CS: "Well, then look on the back of the monitor and find where the power cord goes into it. Can you see that?"

C: "Yes, I think so."

CS: "Great. Follow the cord to the plug, and tell me if it's plugged into the wall."

C: ".......Yes, it is."

CS: "When you were behind the monitor, did you notice that there were two cables plugged into the back of it, not just one?"

C: "No."

CS: "Well, there are. I need you to look back there again and find the other cable."

C: ".......Okay, here it is."

CS: "Follow it for me, and tell me if it's plugged securely into the back of your computer."

C: "I can't reach."

CS: "Uh huh. Well, can you see if it is?"

C: "No."

CS: "Even if you maybe put your knee on something and lean way over?"

C: "Oh, it's not because I don't have the right angle - it's because it's dark."

CS: "Dark?"

C: "Yes - the office light is off, and the only light I have is coming in from the window."

CS: "Well, turn on the office light then."

C: "I can't."

CS: "No? Why not?"

C: "Because there's a power outage."

CS: "A power... A power outage? Ah, Okay, we've got it licked now. Do you still have the boxes and manuals and packing stuff your computer came in?"

C: "Well, yes, I keep them in the closet."

CS: "Good. Go get them, and unplug your system and pack it up just like it was when you got it. Then take it back to the store you bought it from."

C: "Really? Is it that bad?"

CS: "Yes, I'm afraid it is."

C: "Well, all right then, I suppose. What do I tell them?"

CS:
"Tell them you're too stupid to own a computer."

Project: Room Transformation

Intro

The idea of making my room a little more comfy and adding a little more character to it have been in my head for quite some time. I think it is about time I finally start putting plans into action. Or at least start to plan and search for suitable items to replace some of the furnitures inside my room.

Transformation 1: The Desk

At the moment, the one thing I want to replace the most is my study table. Bought it since 1997, the first year of high school. Parents probably having hopes that I will one day be a scientist or a doctor... hmm... anyway, there's nothing wrong with my table but it is time to let my table go.

Here's a picture of my table:

Current study table

Can you see how much space is my table wasting? And it is not suitable to be a computer table because I have no wrist space when I want to type. And of course I want to expand my comp speakers into something bit more fancy. :)

Anyhow, I roughly had an idea of how my new table going to be. It should be a corner table that look something like the table below:

Sexeh new table!

Once I get something like this, gone be the messy wiring, gone be the little wrist space and here comes my sexeh new speakers!

Sweet ride for the feet

Oh look! It's a converse plastic bag! hmm.. What is it doing in my room?

There's a pair of shoes inside!

Woohoo... mah new sexeh pair of Converse and its free! I love shopping with mom!

Heh... seriously, nothing much to post about, this particular post is dedicated to those bimbo-ish bloggers out there. We don't care about your new pair of bras or new set of steroids built biceps... >.<"

Life as it is - mundane. And I can't be talking too much about work because it will be a bore. New manager is still an ass, now there's an additional ass licking prick that have join him in torturing the daylights out of the unfortunate us. bla bla bla... can't wait to get even when I get the chance... IF i get the chance to... pffftt...

Hmm... I think I'll just play around with the new camera that my sister bought with her own allowance... basically mom will be paying for that too... lousy sister... don't know how to earn but know how to spend already. :P

Addiction

Addiction in any form proves to be deadly.

It occupies your mind, your body, overall... your life.

What ever the obsession is, it does not matter, the only thing is that it will cling on to you to a point where you in return holding on to it like there's no tomorrow.

May it be addiction to tell a lie, addiction to games, addiction to alcohol... whatever form, addiction destroys life.

Have you had an addiction lately?

The girl who is precious were born...

Happy Birthday Kristy Tan Wei Shia!

May you get abundant and abundant blessings and then blessed others abundantly at the same time as well.

Have a great birthday! :)

The girl who went Indonesia...

Yo! All the best Karyn! :)

You would probably be busy figuring out where classes at, having culture shocked, preparing yourself for the ragging, and 1001 more other things you need to attend to over there. But if you read this then yup, sorry couldn't send you off. Would love to but work was hectic.

Anyhow, enjoy your stay while you are there. God still rules even though you are at a foreign land. See you this December if you are coming back and hope you will get to know your laptop better as fast as possible when your Dad brings it over. ;p

Heh... ciaozoo...

Dumb Lawyer's One Liners

Having a pretty mixed up feelings at the moment.

But what the hey, life goes on. Anyhow, bumped into few one liners that cracked me up a little bit. Hope you guys like it.
Lawyer: "You were there until the time you left, is that true?"
Lawyer: "Were you alone or by yourself?"
Lawyer: "You don't know what it was, and you didn't know what
it looked like, but can you describe it?"

And the best line any lawyer could ever give while in court would be this:
Lawyer: (realizing he was on the verge of asking a stupid
question) "Your Honor, I'd like to strike the next question."

Well its not all that funny but it is amusing to be able to think of some people you know of who often asks questions like these. Don't you think?

And I really really want to finish this game:

Timely Update

Been MIA from me blog for quite a while now. Busy with work and then busy with de-stressing after that. Come to think of it, I've been MIA from church settings for quite some time as well, not that I can help it. But will try making myself available.

It's been 1 year and 1 month working in IBM, I think it is time to change settings. Need job with more stress and more pay. But if I do leave IBM, only reason I will miss IBM tons would be all the friends that I've manage to make there till now. Most of them are similar age or wave lengths. Surprisingly, they allow me to be me.

What does that mean? Means that all of them does not force themselves to grow up but rather enjoy the process of being young and being an adult at the same time. It is definitely a mixed feelings and the perspective that they have while facing troubles or hardships varies. But in the end of the day, we still can gather and laugh at each other's childish acts.

Why bother being some one you are not just because some people that you know have tell you off when they don't even know you that well. I don't know, to me anything goes as long as I am alright with it. I don't have to be right all the time and I don't mind making mistakes and enjoy the process of growing up.

Sigh, with such good environment to work at but sudden change of management caused the whole team to go into a frenzy state of unnecessary stressfulness. I think on the last day when my threshold meet its limit, I will allow my distaste to consume me and give my 2 cents to the new manager. That I am capable of...

Oh well, I'm a rebel...

Dream Come True

There is this kid, whose name is Siah. This is a story about him.

Few years ago Siah had a dream, a dream to achieve Hyper Treadingness when he got his new Black Machina. But due to under budget, he can't afford to upgrade the firing rate of this Black Machina to Hyper Treading (HT).

All he need is a microchip and his sexeh Black Machina will be firing rounds and rounds of plasma rays with ease. He's been wondering for way too long to remember how long will he get himself an upgrade...

But it's all over now, all those times of day dreaming about the upgrade have come to an end. Now with the help of 512mb Kingston DDR1 RAM, the Black Machina fires up like smooth chocolate. Ooh... hotz... People meet the RAM :
I lover you RAM!!! 1GB babeh!
